President’s Message

A call from President Osman Kaya to the young trade unionists of the world.

Dear Fellow Travellers, Young Representatives of Labor and the Future;

When we set out in Türkiye as Genç Sağlık Sendikası and the Confederation of Public Servants (DMK), we launched not merely a trade-union struggle, but a struggle of vision that transcends our era. With our independent, dynamic, and next-generation approach to unionism — one that breaks down narrow molds — we defended the rights of our public servants while believing this rightful struggle had to cross borders.

Today we feel the rightful pride of announcing the establishment of WAYTU (World Association of Young Trade Unionists) — the international fruit of that unwavering conviction. The journey we began with the strength drawn from our brother nation Azerbaijan, where we took our first steps under the motto "One Nation, Two States," has been transformed into a worldwide vision in Astana, the capital of Kazakhstan and the heart of Eurasia.

The world is undergoing a rapid technological, economic, and sociological transformation. As artificial intelligence, digitalization, and next-generation public administration processes redefine the very meaning of labor, it has become an inevitable necessity for public bureaucracies and trade-union movements to keep pace with this era. WAYTU is precisely the organization established at this turning point — to carry the innovative energy, intellectual capital, and powerful voice of young public laborers worldwide into the decision-making mechanisms.

Our aim is to scale the success model we built in Türkiye to the global level under a universal umbrella, to develop the public-diplomacy and negotiation capabilities of young trade unionists, and to become a playmaker on the international stage defending the rights of labor. The voice rising from Astana is only a beginning. On this hallowed road where we will crown the universal values of labor with the vision of youth, I invite all the world’s young trade unionists and public servants to walk shoulder to shoulder under the roof of the World Association of Young Trade Unionists.

The future will be shaped by youth, and labor by the next-generation vision.

With my regards,

Osman Kaya
